oh boy, i wonder who’s at the door?

unlike later issues (starting from issue 3, basically), this storyline wasn’t scripted beforehand. instead, all the major story beats were put into the barest skeleton of an outline, leading to little interludes like this where i suddenly realize that ed is wearing his coat and scarf in the intro and therefore needs to have them on right now as well. hooray, hindsight!
